Ivan F. Garcia-Hidalgo
Ivan F. Garcia-Hidalgo possesses almost two decades of private-sector experience as a business development and government affairs strategist at the international and domestic levels. He specializes in identifying key markets and in developing and negotiating all aspects of business relationships.Recently Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo served as the Director of AT&T's Strategic Partner & Alliances Group ('07-'09) where he also served on AT&T's Regional Advisory Council.
In a one-billion dollar territory (Canada, Caribbean and Latin America) for AT&T, Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo was Director of the Strategic Partners and Alliances group. In this capacity he supported all top opportunities that involved Strategic Partners. He also worked on development of new offers, capabilities, press releases, internal announcements, new and existing partner business development, incentives, case studies and best practices. Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo led all demand generation with Partners while working closely with internal stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, External Affairs, Legal, Application Services, Network Integration and Product Marketing.
While running his own firm ('03-'07) which was focused on business development, public relations and Government Affairs, Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo represented several companies with their business development efforts into telecommunications carriers in the Caribbean and Latin American regions, which included Verizon, Cable & Wireless, Telmex, Telefonica, Alegro PCS and TIM. His firm was retained by several chambers of commerce and special-interests groups to advocate in favor of several free trade agreements with the USA. He co-organized and co-hosted the Trade Negotiation Round in Miami between USA, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador. He also led trade missions to Latin America with business leaders and chambers of commerce along side Governor Jeb Bush to advocate in favor of Miami as the future site of the FTAA Secretariat. After several months of negotiation Peru's endorsement of Miami as future site of the FTAA Secretariat was obtained.
During his tenure at ADC Telecommunications ('99-'03) Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo produced over $12M annually in revenue from hardware and software sales to telecommunications carriers in the territory. He also partnered with other vendors to win the Cable & Wireless GSM Wireless Network project. This project was worth over $100M, and was to build an entire GSM Network from the ground up (over 180 sites). He also managed key accounts, which in addition to Cable & Wireless, included Centennial, Virgin Islands Telephone Company, Digicel, Verizon (PRTC, Codetel & CANTV), TIM, Telefonica, BellSouth, AT&T and Nextel. He was a Member of ADC's prestigious "Century Club".
Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo also held domestic business development roles with AT&T ('98-'99). He was also part of the original start-up team for Sprint PCS ('96-'98) where he was acknowledged as the Top 10 in the country in sales. Prior to those assignments he had the opportunity to live in Latin America and work for his family's business ('90-'96), which was focused on trade.
Additionally, Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo has begun, supported or participated in facets of the Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR, 2005), Peruvian Trade Promotion Agreement (PTPA, 2006), Chile FTA (2005), Columbian Trade Promotion Agreement (CTPA, 2006), Trade Promotion Authority (TPA, 2002), Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA, 2002), The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act (H.R. 1836), Florida FTAA 2004-2006, Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act of 2006.
Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo has earned a Master of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Almeda University. Currently, Mr. Garcia-Hidalgo serves as a member of the Board of Governors for the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Peruvian-American Chamber of Commerce (which he also presided). He is the Senior Advisor to the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. co-founder of the Peruvian-American National Roundtable, he is also a founding board member of the Council of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce of the Americas. Recently, he had the honor of serving on the National Hispanic Steering Committee for Mitt Romney for President.
